I don't see how that suddenly makes me a bad person. I have art on my walls and the colors match.

16:9 games like this I'll play on the TV and consoles and on PC I have a 21:9 monitor and thus I prefer to use the hardware properly and enjoy the pretty aspect ratio. Are you kidding me ? I simply have a personal preference for playing games in their correct aspect ratios. You know what is a a dumb question ? This is a dumb question : "why should the developer change his game to suit your inability to ignore black spaces on the side of something?"įirst of all, there is no need to try and insult me just because I disagree with you.

If a mod can do it, why can't the original developer is a valid argument. But it was feasible and a bunch of fans pulled it off anyway. it is a platformer.but in addition it is a procedural open world.īut if somehow being a sandbox makes it so much easier in your opinion, then how about FEZ ?įEZ is a pixel platformer with perfect official 21:9 support.Ĭave Story did require "modding" yeah. Is it that games can't have 21:9 support if they are both pixel graphics and platformers ? Well.then Starbound fits that description. A top down game like Stardew is similar to a sidescrolling platformer. Expanding the scene is no problem from a technical perspective. If you believe having pixel aesthetic makes it harder to expand the scene, well then Stardew Valley is an example, as it is a side scrolling game with a pixel aesthetic. You say Ori doesn't matter because it doesn't use a pixelated artstyle, so somehow that makes extending the scene to the sides easier ? What does having clearly defined edges on the textures have to do with how much of the scene you are able to see ? No that is a ridiculous argument. If your argument is that platformers can't have 21:9 support well then Ori is a good example. "If a mod can do it, why can't the original developer ?" is a dumb question Stardew is an isometric farming game with tiny environmentsĬave story apparently had to be heavily modded to work from 2 seconds of googling, so why should the developer change his game to suit your inability to ignore black spaces on the side of something?Īlso, its made by one dude and its old as hell Ori isnt a pixel platformer with clearly defined edges on every tile and ♥♥♥♥ so yeah, its got layers and layers of art and it makes sense Originally posted by Tiny Messiah:Starbound is procedural crap and it doesnt matter what the resolution is cause ♥♥♥♥ just flies at you from offscreen anyway However for a game like Katana Zero this shouldn't be an issue at all. I realize of course you can't do this with every game.

It will make their software more future proof allowing people to enjoy their games on future exotic aspect ratios.

Honestly, the best thing is if devs just make their games as resolution independent as possible. It is exactly how things went down when 16:9 first emerged as a niche aspect-ratio. Believe me, if developers still released 4:3 aspect ratio games then people would ask them for 16:9 support all the time.

Instead I'll buy it on a console where I can enjoy the game on the full width of a traditional 16:9 TV screen. But then I am just not going to buy it on the PC platform. The devs chose not to support it and that is fine. If you notice I made this thread 2 years ago before the game was released as a "feature request". So people can make an informed purchasing decision. There is no harm in asking whether a game supports it or not. But they do bother many people who use ultra-wide monitors, myself included. Some other sidescrolling pixel art game like Stardew Valley Platformers in general are really pretty in 21:9. I have an ultrawide and this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great pillarboxedĭon't be silly, just because it is a pixelish game or a platformer doesn't mean you can't have ultra wide support. If you can name a single example of one I would actually be really curious to know Originally posted by Tiny Messiah:No ultrawide but it's a pixel platformer, so what did you really expect?
